Spot welder 3rd Shift

Overview

Spot Weld Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a spot weld machine/gun. The operator will change and file gun tips, adjust welder settings, and program the machine for the job. The operator will position parts in the tip or load and unload parts in fixtures and activate the welder. The operator will use a grinder to remove excess weld beads.

The operator will follow specifications to accurately weld parts and verify product quality by inspection and measuring equipment.

• Follow safety and environmental procedures
• Report to work on time as scheduled
• Accurately read and use quality tools to ensure quality parts
• Examine welds and unload parts to ensure they meet standards and specifications
• Use computer to enter part information/inventory in ERP system
• Operate spot welding equipment
• Load, set up, and operate spot welding equipment
• Perform basic preventative maintenance and setup to keep the spot welder running smoothly and reduce downtime
• Inspect welds during the welding process
• Inspect and green tag first piece
• Ability to operate a motorized walking stacker

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to operate cranes and overhead hoists
• Ability to use quality inspection equipment
• Proficient in basic math and computer skills
