Job Title:

Operator – 1st Shift Job Description

The 1st shift Operator safely operates and maintains fermentation tanks and food production machinery in a climate-controlled, GMP manufacturing environment. This role focuses on consistent and accurate production, sanitation, basic quality inspection, and precise data and documentation recording to support high-quality food products.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor fermentation tanks and food production machinery, including packaging machinery, labelers, vats, dryers, and conveyor systems.

  • Perform routine checks and adjustments on equipment to maintain safe and efficient operation.

  • Carry out sanitation duties to ensure all equipment and work areas meet GMP and cleanliness standards.

  • Complete full Disassembly, Cleaning, and Reassembly (DCRs) of equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Weigh and/or count product accurately to meet production specifications and documentation requirements.

  • Accurately check materials in and out, ensuring proper tracking of inventory and production flow.

  • Print and apply labels accurately to ensure correct product identification and traceability.

  • Perform minor quality inspections of products to verify they meet established standards.

  • Record production data clearly and accurately in logs or electronic systems in accordance with documentation review requirements.

  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures when required to ensure safe operation and maintenance of equipment.

  • Adhere to GMP codes and all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment.

  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to maintain smooth production flow and address issues promptly.

Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of experience operating production machinery in a GMP environment.

  • At least 1 year of experience performing sanitation duties in a manufacturing or food production setting.

  • At least 1 year of lockout/tagout (LOTO) experience.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or food production environment.

  • Ability to operate and monitor fermentation equipment and food production machinery.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude to support equipment operation, disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly.

  • Ability to perform minor quality inspections and identify visible defects or inconsistencies.

  • Strong attention to detail for accurate weighing, counting, labeling, and data recording.

  • Ability to follow written procedures and documentation requirements in a GMP environment.

  • Commitment to following safety guidelines and GMP codes at all times.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with fermentation processes in a food production setting.

  • Familiarity with documentation review and maintaining accurate production records.

  • Comfort working with conveyor systems, dryers, vats, labelers, and packaging machinery.

  • Ability to work effectively on a set schedule and adapt to voluntary overtime when available.

Work Environment

This role is based in a GMP-compliant, climate-controlled manufacturing facility focused on food production. The position follows a 1st shift schedule, working Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the potential for up to 5 hours of voluntary overtime.
