Shift: Saturday – Monday | Weekend AM: 6:00am – 6:30pm
The Clinical Lab Associate I, Specimen Processing is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the Specimen Processing Department, including accessioning, processing, automation usage, sample racking, maintenance, and cleaning. The role supports the department’s goal of operating effectively and follows all laboratory policies and procedures.
Essential Duties- Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
- Maintain documentation of problems and resolutions following Good Documentation Practices.
- Support department goals that align with organizational priorities.
- Work with leadership to identify and progress on individual development goals.
- Support operational initiatives such as quality and process improvements, SOP development, inspections and audits.
- Complete all mandatory training assignments and annual competencies within established timelines.
- Handle and dispose of specimens following standard precautions and applicable safety policies.
- Understand and comply with all laboratory and safety regulations.
- Support employee engagement initiatives to maintain and improve team morale.

- Use a mobile device, tablet, or computer screen and type for approximately 75% of the day.
- Perform repetitive motions and comply with personal protective equipment requirements.
- Handle hazards such as bodily fluids, tissue specimens, and instruments with moving parts, heating and freezing elements.
- Travel to and work at all other sites within the same city as needed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- Experience using computers, including Internet navigation, email, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties, with or without accommodation.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, or a related field.
- Laboratory or similar environment experience maintaining sample integrity, following procedures and protocols.
- Knowledge of CAP, GLP, GDP, CLIA, NYSDOH, and HIPAA.
- Experience troubleshooting automation and performing instrument maintenance.
- Lean experience (Kaizen, Kanban, root‑cause analysis, countermeasure implementation, etc.).
