Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician troubleshoots and repairs highly automated material handling and sorting equipment in a large, clean distribution center. This role focuses on both mechanical and electrical systems, including PLC-controlled machinery, conveyors, cranes, and robotics, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the facility's equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on production and material handling equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues on high-speed automated sorting machines, conveyors, cranes, and related systems.
  • Work with Allen-Bradley PLCs (both older and newer models) to support equipment operation, diagnostics, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintain and repair variable frequency drives (VFDs), photo eyes, sensors, and other control components used in automated systems.
  • Service and support robotic equipment used in material handling and sorting processes.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair gantry cranes, overhead cranes, and other lifting equipment within the facility.
  • Support and maintain an extensive conveyor system spanning multiple stories and miles of conveyor lines, including sorters and associated equipment.
  • Maintain and repair maintenance forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and other powered industrial equipment used in the facility.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, hoses, and air supply components.
  • Work safely with three-phase motors up to 480 volts, including installation, wiring, and troubleshooting of motor controls.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose root causes, and implement effective repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance and repair tasks such as replacing bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, and structural components.
  • Support equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications as needed to improve reliability and performance.
  • Use TMI Systems (maintenance software) to document work orders, update equipment status, and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Collaborate with a team of multi-craft technicians at various skill levels, sharing information, offering solutions, and supporting a culture of quality and reliability.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and leadership regarding equipment status, repair timelines, and any safety or reliability concerns.
  • Follow all safety procedures and best practices when working with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

This role is based in a large, modern distribution center that operates extensive automated material handling systems, including approximately 30 miles of conveyors, multiple sorters, and numerous cranes spanning three stories. With very little mandatory overtime and occasional voluntary overtime opportunities. You will work alongside a team of approximately 22 multi-craft technicians at various levels, in a team-oriented environment where collaboration, communication, and problem-solving are highly valued.

The facility is described as large and clean, with an emphasis on safety, reliability, and maintaining high-quality equipment standards. Standard industrial work attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are expected to safely perform maintenance tasks around electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

This is a Permanent position based out of DeForest, WI.

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
