Position Summary
The Department of World Languages and Cultures in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Northern Illinois University (NIU), invites applications for instructor positions to create a pool for advance and short notice hiring. These will be part or full-time temporary instructor positions. Start dates vary based on programmatic needs.
We are seeking potential candidates to offer high-quality teaching in American Sign Language, French, German, Japanese, or Spanish who fully embrace NIU's mission of providing opportunity to a diverse student body. Candidates must demonstrate native or near-native fluency in the target language and should practice current foreign language teaching methodologies centered on a communicative approach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching load will be no more than 12 credit hours during fall semester, no more than 12 credit hours during spring semester; other related duties may be assigned.
Minimum
Required Qualifications
* Master's degree in the target language
* Expertise or evident potential for quality teaching in the target language at the undergraduate level.
