Instructor, Philosophy (Creating a Pool for Anticipated Openings)
The Department of Philosophy at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Northern Illinois University (NIU), invites applications for instructor positions to create a pool for advance and short-notice hiring. These will be part- or full-time temporary instructor positions. Start dates vary based on programmatic needs. We are seeking potential candidates to provide high-quality teaching in philosophy who fully embrace NIU's mission of providing opportunity to a diverse student body by providing them with access to high-quality education.

The Philosophy Instructor will be responsible for teaching various courses in philosophy, possibly including but not necessarily limited to Introduction to Philosophy, Contemporary Issues in Ethics, and Logic and Critical Reasoning. The instructor will also supervise teaching assistants and hold office hours. Teaching may be in-person and/or online.
Teaching load will be no more than 13 credit hours during the Fall semesters, no more than 13 credit hours during the spring semester, and other duties as assigned.
Master's Degree in philosophy or closely related field.
Ph.D. in Philosophy or closely related field. Experience teaching students of diverse backgrounds.
