The salary range for this position is $37.95 - $49.33 hourly. Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital is seeking a candidate with 7 years of relevant building maintenance and repair experience, including high pressure steam boilers and refrigeration/electrical/automation systems.

The Lead Facilities Engineer reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

To lead and supervise the daily performance of staff engineers. Performs preventative maintenance and urgent, corrective, and routine repairs in electrical, mechanical and HVAC equipment. Assists Chief Engineer in matters of performance reviews and discipline. Lead Engineer shall assist the Chief Engineer in maintaining an effective organization, administering monetary controls, budget development, planning, training of personnel in their general and specific duties, safety, and effective management.

Supervises staff engineers in the Engineering Department.

  • Oversees and operates power plant equipment in a manner to minimize risk of the loss of any utilities necessary for the provision of health care in the hospital.
  • In the event of an unexpected failure of any utility, item or equipment in the power plant, identifies the cause of the failure and take necessary action to maintain continuity of utilities service to the hospital.
  • Oversees and operates a wide variety of power plant equipment to include boilers, chilled water air conditioning equipment, pumps, air compressors and diesel-electric generators for the provision of utilities necessary for hospital operations.
  • Maintains proper water quality for boiler water, condensate, water softeners, and cooling towers to ensure that water is within proper limits to prevent damage to power plant equipment.
  • Maintains all power plant equipment in accordance with issued Preventive Maintenance Orders and manufacturer's recommended procedures, to minimize interruptions of utilities to the hospital.
