Health Promotion Associate/BBO-C Non-Nurse Navigator
The DeKalb County Health Department is seeking a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Health Promotion Associate/BBO-C Non-Nurse Navigator. This position reports directly to the WIC/BBO-C Coordinator. Ideal candidates have excellent communication skills, is detail oriented, organized and possesses an interest in improving the health in our community.
Responsibilities- Screens clients for program eligibility, schedules appointments, greets and assists clients, answers telephones, and is able to provide a variety of information for clients.
- Prepares routine materials which may include reports, correspondence, word processing, data entry and billing spreadsheets.
- Conducts outreach to at risk populations and service providers to promote WIC and BBO-C programs and initiatives.
- Performs routine, standard vision and/or screening tests on children in order to identify children needing further follow up for possible impairments.
- Provides health education, communicates screening results, and assists individuals with referrals and resources to support their health goals.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
- Requires a minimum of an Associate degree or equivalent demonstrated experience working with maternal and child health programs.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, or English and Arabic preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to problem solve and be part of the team.
- Ability to be flexible and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Requires successful completion of training programs approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health leading to certification in vision and hearing screening.
- Requires successful completion of training programs approved by the WIC and BBO-C programs.
- Requires late clinic hours until 7pm, 1-2 times per month.
