Pool Operations Manager
CLASSIFICATION:
Part-Time, Non-Exempt
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Oversees the daily operation of admissions and concession area to provide a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patrons by supervising staff, maintaining customer service standards, and ensuring compliance with food handling and safety regulations.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Reports to the Hopkins Facilities and Aquatics Manager
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Directly oversees Pool Admissions Staff and Pool Concessions Staff. Indirectly supervises Pool Managers, Lifeguards, and Water Slide Attendants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises all Admissions and concession staff; perform direct roles as necessary.
- Provides leadership, direction, and support to all patrons and addresses customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Oversees concession operations, including food preparation, food handling, inventory, cleanliness, and customer service.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Complete incident/accident reports as required.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all Park District policies, aquatic facility rules, and concession procedures.
- Monitors cleanliness and organization of admissions and concession area, including equipment and storage areas.
- Cleans the concession area, administration areas, pool deck area and locker rooms as necessary.
- Maintains appropriate inventory levels and communicates supply needs to supervisor.
- Promptly reports any work-related or patron injuries to supervisor.
- Uses good safety awareness and judgement; corrects unsafe conditions and/or reports them to supervisor.
- Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; respond to requests for service and assistance.
- Assists with opening and closing procedures for admissions and concession operations.
- Assists with special events, facility rentals, and other assigned aquatic facility operations.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES:
- Participate in required district training programs.
- Supervise facility rentals.
- Provide backup to related positions when possible.
DESIRED
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Previous experience in customer service, food service, concessions, or supervisory experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to supervise, motivate, and lead seasonal staff.
- Knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and food safety practices.
- Ability to operate cash registers and point-of-sale systems accurately.
- Ability to handle cash and reconcile daily receipts.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patrons, staff, and supervisors.
- Well organized and strong ability to work independently as well as with others.
- Ability to follow directions and give clear instructions.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to handle negative feedback from patrons.
- Ability to portray a professional image of the District.
- Possess and maintain a current Food Manager Certification.
- Possess and maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification or obtain within an established timeframe.
