US Navy Oceanography (OCEANO) officers are geophysical experts applying meteorology, oceanography, hydrography, bathymetry, geophysics, and precise time to define the physical environment for naval operations.
Officers serve at sea and ashore with opportunities to lead teams from small detachments to large commands, and may pursue postgraduate education at the Naval Postgraduate School. A technical baccalaureate and calculus/physics studies are typical prerequisites.
