Maintenance Technician A (III)
Transdev in DeKalb, IL is seeking an experienced A‑Level Mechanic to bolster our team. The role requires diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining gasoline and diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment, ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our assets.
Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive hourly pay ranging from $29.00 to $42.00.
- Vacation: minimum of 2 weeks
- Sick days: 5 days
- Holidays: 12 days (8 standard, 4 floating)

Key Responsibilities- Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs on engines.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and accurate repairs.
- Complete preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
- Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for gas and diesel engines.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on gas engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing skills and knowledge.
- Other duties as required.
- 4–5 years of experience as a Mechanic.
- ASE certifications required; company provides ASE certification program.
- Mechanic’s tool set proficiency.
- Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable.
- Ability to work shifts or flexible schedules as needed.
- Work involves long periods of sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
- Work environment includes both indoors and outdoors.
