Maintenance Technician - Upstream Distribution Center - DeKalb, IL

Engineering & Facilities Maintenance Technician 3 (MT3)

• Current shift: B3 Key — Wednesday through Saturday from 8:30 pm to 6:30 am.

• Maintain and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical aspects of material handling equipment (conveyors, sortation, robotics, ASRS).
• Control and adjust positioning accuracy, timing, scanners, cameras, scales, and printer applicators.
• Repair or replace belts, chains, cables, guides, bearings, wheels, rollers, and pulleys.
• Clean, lubricate, and calibrate equipment.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, and control components (photoeyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachometers, encoders).
• Troubleshoot PLC programs and components, field buses, and communication modules.
• Configure and adjust PLC parameters and component setup.
• Conduct higher‑level maintenance and troubleshooting of robots.
• Troubleshoot power distribution systems, branch circuits, lighting, transformers, and wiring up to 480 V.
• Develop work plans with peer technicians for emergency repair of critical assets.
• Use handheld devices and asset‑management mobile apps to create and close work orders with labor hours, downtime, cause, remedy, and parts used.
• Maintain positive working relationships across all levels.
• Follow safety procedures and use PPE (lock‑out/tag‑out, arc flash, etc.) and eliminate hazards.
• Operate Target‑owned vehicles and travel to nearby facilities to procure parts.
• Navigate ladders, gangways, platforms, and work at significant heights.
• Work in varied temperatures and environments; stand/walk up to 10–12 h; lift/move up to 49 lb.
• [F&B Only] Execute sanitation and maintenance standards that support industrial ammonia refrigeration.

• Valid driver’s license for the state of employment.
• Excellent PC competency and mobile app usage.
• Familiar with wiring diagrams, symbols, and electrical measurement.
• [F&B Only] Comfortable working in a temperature‑controlled environment.
• Experience in preventive/predictive maintenance, blueprint and schematic reading, work‑order management, industrial electrical/controls/en electronics, PLC programming, NEC and MHE safety, automated material handling or robotics.
• Desired:
  Technical or community college degree or accredited industrial maintenance certifications (PLCs, industrial networks, machine logic, robotics) focusing on mechanical/electrical fields.
• Desired: 4+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical maintenance.
