This role combines mechanical and electrical maintenance responsibilities to keep warehouse, labeling, and building equipment operating safely and efficiently. You will assemble, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of machinery and electrical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC-controlled equipment, while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards on 2nd or 3rd shift.
Responsibilities- Assemble, install, maintain, repair, and overhaul warehouse, labeling department, and building machinery and equipment.
- Install and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps and flow systems, to ensure reliable operation.
- Perform maintenance wiring and install motors, switches, switch panels, fuse boxes, lighting, and power circuits.
- Inspect motors, switches, junction boxes, switch panels, circuit breakers, transformers, fuse panels, lighting, heating, and power circuits to identify and resolve issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance, running repairs, and corrective actions to minimize equipment downtime.
- Install, connect, adjust, and calibrate electrical gauges and recording instruments.
- Perform and strictly follow lockout/tagout procedures to ensure safe work practices.
- Maintain open communication with supervisors and employees regarding any changes or issues encountered while performing tasks.
- Keep the work area clean, neat, and orderly to support safe and efficient operations.
- Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse and related facilities.
- Conduct all operations in a manner that promotes safety and complies with OSHA and other applicable standards.
- Work on electrical maintenance and capital projects as directed by management, completing tasks efficiently within set budgets and time constraints.
- Support annual requirements of electronic controls for equipment such as seamers and thermal processing calibration.
- Coordinate with supervision and management to maintain appropriate inventory of electrical parts and supplies.
- Provide input to management and supervision on plant electrical maintenance needs for both short-term and long-term applications.
- Identify and communicate training and development needs to ensure electrical staff maintain a thorough knowledge of electricity, circuitry, power distribution, building codes, and PLC troubleshooting.
- Continuously develop your own skills and assist in developing electrical staff in programming, applications, and operation of PLC systems.
- Support the electrical and PLC knowledge level of maintenance crews across all departments.
- Troubleshoot electrical panels, variable frequency drives (VFDs), power sources, and control circuits, including rewiring as needed.
- Log in to PLC programs to assist with troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment issues.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively while performing mechanical and electrical tasks.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on equipment controlled by PC controllers and various mechanical sequencers.
- 5–7+ years of multi-craft maintenance mechanic experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in solid state circuitry and devices, including high voltage DC rectifier and control circuits.
- Hands-on experience with 480V three-phase electrical systems.
- Ability to perform maintenance on hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, including panels, VFDs, power sources, and control circuits.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, circuit diagrams, electrical schematics, and ladder logic diagrams.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment controlled by PC controllers and mechanical sequencers.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and supporting PLC-controlled systems.
- Proficiency in using test equipment such as multimeters, clamp-on ammeters, and ohmmeters.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience as a general mechanic or maintenance technician.
- Working knowledge of preventive maintenance practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Troubleshooting skills for both mechanical and electrical systems.
