Salary Range: $17.61 - $23.77 (Hourly Rate). Placement within this range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement is guided by collective bargaining agreement rules.

Community‑based services that dispatch mental health professionals to safely de‑escalate behavioral health crises on‐site. They provide immediate evaluations, safety planning, and crisis stabilization as a trauma‑informed alternative to law enforcement or emergency room visits.

Location: DeKalb, IL

Recovery Support Specialist openings and opportunities:

• On‑Call
  • 8:00 PM – 8:30 AM (minimum of 8 shifts per month, including weekends and holidays)
  • Must be on‑site within 30 minutes of being called in.
  • Pay rate for on‑call shifts is $17.05 /hr.
• As Needed/PRN (on‑site)
  • Provides coverage; shifts vary (minimum of 8 shifts per month, includes weekends and holidays)
• Part Time (on‑site)
  • Sundays 8 AM – 8:30 PM, Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday would be 6‑hour shifts between 8:00 AM and 8:30 PM

• Recovery Support Specialists should be able to articulate their personal experience in recovery when working with patients experiencing mental health and/or drug/alcohol issues, providing peer support to these populations.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• CRSS is preferred.

The Recovery Support Specialist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Uses personal and training experience to create a safe space for consumers to calmly process crisis events, learn and apply wellness strategies, and prevent future crisis events. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Peer Recovery specialist operates from the Crisis Now concept and focuses on recovery orientation, trauma‑informed care, and a philosophy that crises are an opportunity for learning.

All services are designed to proactively divert crises and break the cycle of hospitalizations.

• Serve as an individual advocate for consumers.
• Utilize training and personal recovery experiences to provide peer support for consumers.
• Provide recovery information and activities to all consumers; information, resources and connection to natural supports; and must follow principles of trauma‑informed care.
• Assess and evaluate consumer’s needs, strengths, goals, and resources.
• As directed, transports consumers to and from home, appointments, meetings, and/or school.
• Advocate within systems to promote person‑centered recovery support services; work with an interdisciplinary team in reviewing cases and developing individual plans.
