Human Resources/Events Assistant

San Antonio Shoemakers (SAS), a San Antonio, Texas based privately held company, has been in business for over 40 years and has developed a reputation as a premier American manufacturer of high quality comfort footwear.

Position

SAS has an opening for a Human Resources Events Assistant to provide essential administrative and logistical support for the planning, coordination, and execution of company events and Human Resources initiatives. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining confidentiality.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources and Events departments
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records of HR and Event documentation
  • Support HR staff with reports, spreadsheets, data entry, filing, and tracking of HR activities
  • Maintain event calendars
  • Plan, coordinate, and support employee events, celebrations, activities, and engagement initiatives
  • Coordinate event logistics including budgets, timelines, venue bookings, vendor arrangements and resource allocation
  • Coordinate assignments with internal departments
  • Communicate and update event details and expectations to employees, supervisors, and management
  • Ensure events are organized, professional, inclusive, and aligned with company guidelines
  • Handle phone calls, emails and in-person requests with professionalism
  • Provide timely responses to inquiries and communications
Job Qualifications:
  • Self-disciplined, organized, enjoys working in a fast-pace environment, comfortable interacting with employees, and the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Prioritize, multi task, learn quickly, and diligently follow through in a busy environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel & HR software (ADP)
  • Mature in judgment & behavior, responsible, self-motivated and organized
  • Ability to communicate in conversational English and Spanish
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team and follow established attendance policies
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to lift 20 lbs
  • Must be able to climb stairs
  • Must be able to conduct routine walks-throughs throughout the manufacturing sites
  • Able to drive to the other SAS locations
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer, visual inspection, and prepare and analyze projects
Education & Experience Requirements :
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • HR administrative experience is a plus
