The After school Program Specialist supports the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-quality after school programming across Del Valle ISD campuses. This position collaborates closely with the Director of After school Programs to ensure programs are safe, engaging, and aligned with district goals. The Specialists assist in developing enrichment opportunities, monitoring program effectiveness, and providing campus-level support to ensure students benefit from structured, meaningful learning experiences beyond the school day.
The After school Program Specialist should have strong organizational and administrative skills, good interpersonal and communication skills, good writing and computer skills, and experience in youth and family services, public education, or recreation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certification
- Experience in out-of-school time programming (after school/summer), youth development, or community-based programs.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferred
- Texas Teaching Certification, preferred
- College coursework in education/ youth issues, preferred
- Experience coordinating vendors/partners, MOUs, and deliverables, preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides) and Canva
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Candidate must have a satisfactory outcome of a fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee of approximately $50.00 paid by the employee
- Experience working with school-based personnel, community groups, and youth groups.
- Experience working in K-12 education, after school programs, or youth development.
- Experience coordinating programs or supporting multiple campuses.
- Experience creating instructional or enrichment materials.
- Experience facilitating or supporting professional development (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work with others and provide leadership to youth and adults.
- Knowledge of after school program best practices and youth engagement strategies.
- Ability to design and evaluate enrichment curriculum.
- Ability to create flyers, digital communications, and social media content.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of grant compliance and district policies.
- Strong organizational/clerical skills.

Program Coordination and Support
- Frequent on-site visits across multiple campuses; supports operations, schedules, staffing coverage, and program delivery.
- Conduct site visits to evaluate program quality and provide feedback and support
- Develop systems and structures to ensure safe, organized, and engaging program environments
- Collaborate with campus staff to ensure alignment with district expectations
- Applies positive youth development practices (belonging, leadership, SEL, trauma-informed approaches).
- Review and develop curriculum for Enrichment Program Specialists
- Support implementation of engaging, hands-on enrichment activities
- Ensure programming supports student growth, creativity, and exploration
- Support continuous improvement through coaching and feedback
- Develop resources and tools to strengthen program implementation
- Assist the director in developing and delivering curricula and other resources (such as speakers/trainers and supplies) for sites.
