Orthopedic Technician functions with demonstrated expertise in the delivery of direct orthopedic care to children. Partner with the healthcare team to assess, prioritize, and provide care for clinic patient population. Meet specific requirements, goals, and competencies established within the orthopedic clinic.
Location & Schedule- Primary location:
Greenfield Clinic (3365 S 103rd St., Milwaukee, WI 53227) - Other clinics:
Milwaukee Hospital, Delafield, Mequon, Kenosha - Monday‑Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (8‑hr shift)
- No evenings or weekends
- 1+ years pediatric experience in orthopedics with proven competency in relevant practice areas (preferred)
- High School graduate or GED or HSED required
- Coursework in biology or physics preferred
- BLS‑Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association / American Red Cross) – required within 90 days
- CMA‑Certified Medical Assistant (American Association of Medical Assistants) – preferred
- ORTHO‑Orthopedic Technician (National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists, Inc.) – preferred
- Knowledge of orthopedic surgery instruments, casting techniques, application of braces (minimum one year related experience preferred)
- Ability to transfer, ambulate patients, lift orthopedic devices, stand for long periods and lift objects up to 75 pounds
- Frequent bending, lifting, twisting, reaching, squatting; occasional push/pull and overhead work
- Good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with physicians, patients, parents, and staff
- Flexibility of time and duties in a fast‑paced environment
- Familiarity with personal computer operations and functions
- Effective communication with patients, families, providers, staff, and leadership
- Analytical ability to observe and communicate problems as they arise
- Promotes courteous behavior as outlined in department guest relations guidelines
