Summary
The Behavior Specialist is responsible for supporting the delivery of high‑quality Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) interventions within Rogers Behavioral Health treatment programs. The role involves assessing the function of behavior, developing and implementing individualized plans, providing training to patients and support persons, collaborating within an interdisciplinary team, and monitoring progress to achieve optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities- Provide cognitive behavioral and other therapeutic services, including groups, to patients in accordance with clinical standards of care and under the supervision of the Clinical Leader.
- Participate in supervision sessions with the Clinical Leader, regularly communicating patient progress and required adjustments to care plans.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, administer outcome measures, review results, and modify interventions as needed in consultation with the Clinical Leader.
- Ensure all interventions yield the desired outcomes.
- Document mental health services in accordance with applicable regulations and payer expectations.
- Document therapeutic treatment plans, outcome assessments, psychosocial information, and other patient care data promptly within the medical record.
- Complete additional documentation under close supervision of the Clinical Leader within SUD programs.
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and assist in developing comprehensive treatment plans.
- Communicate treatment interventions and support needs to interdisciplinary team members and support systems.
- Offer training support to other direct care team members (e.g., MHT, nurses, clinic assistants) who are less familiar with CBT interventions.
- Provide parent or support person training and education to support CBT interventions effectively, including teaching positive reinforcement, modeling behaviors, and strategies for managing challenging situations.
- Ensure patient safety and the safety of the facility.
- Support staffing and scheduling adjustments when program and patient needs require.
- Perform other duties as assigned, such as maintaining a current knowledge base of department processes, pursuing self‑directed learning, continuing education, and participating in committees, task forces, and work groups.
- Bachelor’s Degree required (human services, psychology, social work, or related field).
- Must hold a valid Substance Abuse Counselor‑in‑Training credential (or state equivalent) if working in an Addiction Recovery program.
- Relevant CBT experience (12 months preferred); experience may include clinical care, human services, or educational equivalent.
- For residential programs, must hold a current, active driver's license and be in good standing (preferred for all levels of care).
- Compliance with Residential Care Center (RCC) and Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) requirements for Residential Inpatient programs.
- American Heart Association CPR certification within thirty days of hire; bi‑annual re‑certification required.
- Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) within sixty days of hire/transfer; annual re‑certification required.
- CBRF trainings within ninety days of hire; additional unit trainings as directed during onboarding.
