Major Functions

The County of Volusia is seeking a Computer Support Analyst II – Show Services IT & Power Specialist for the Ocean Center. This position serves as the customer-facing IT and power services support role for clients, exhibitors, vendors, and event producers leasing space at the Ocean Center. The position is responsible for coordinating, administering, and supporting event-related internet (Wi‑Fi and hardline), power, and low‑voltage service needs in close collaboration with the Show Services team.

This role does not provide internal County or Ocean Center IT support. All duties are focused on external clients and leased‑space services, including advance planning, order processing, service coordination, on‑site troubleshooting, billing documentation, and post‑event follow‑up. The position is heavily administrative in nature, with hands‑on technical support limited to client‑facing show services systems.

Illustrative Duties
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for clients, exhibitors, vendors, and service contractors regarding internet, Wi‑Fi, low‑voltage, and temporary power needs. Processing orders and reviewing floor plans for services.
  • Provides guidance on available services, bandwidth options, power requirements, pricing structures, and service limitations.
  • Maintains detailed records of services ordered, changes, service issues, resolutions, and final billing documentation.
  • Prepares service reports, usage summaries, and documentation needed for post‑event reconciliation and invoicing.
  • Assists clients with connectivity issues related to event internet services, including basic troubleshooting of end‑user connectivity and coordination with providers when escalations are required.
  • Supports emergency response related to client‑facing power or connectivity issues during events.
  • Performs low‑voltage support tasks related to show services, such as cable placement verification and continuity testing.
  • Supports temporary power distribution for booths, activations, and event infrastructure in coordination with Show Services and contracted providers.
  • Works closely with contracted service providers and internal trades staff for installation, troubleshooting, and restoration of services.
  • May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs.
  • Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

Graduation from high school or possession of GED and six (6) years of responsible experience in IT or related field.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, IT or related field and two (2) years of responsible experience in IT or related field.

A comparable amount of training, education, or experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license at time of hire, and a valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days of hire and maintain thereafter.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of event internet services and Wi‑Fi environments.
  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts.
  • Knowledge of temporary power distribution for events.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non‑technical clients.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in documenting service orders, changes, and resolutions.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple service requests simultaneously in fast‑paced event settings.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing to groups and individuals.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to interact effectively with others.
  • Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs.
