POSITION GOAL
Lead the planning, coordination, standards, and daily operations for district safety and security software and systems technical support to ensure systems are reliable, secure, and capable

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, schedule, assign, and supervise safety and security systems technical support and incident response, including after-hours/on-call coordination as required.
  • Lead the district’s software and systems technical support efforts for safety and security technology including security cameras and video management software; door access control systems; fire and intrusion alarm systems; school visitor identification and emergency student reunification systems; intercom systems; network connected environmental sensors for vape detection with camera integration; student monitoring systems; law enforcement camera integration systems; walkthrough weapons detection systems;

    site protection drones; and technology hardware and systems for the Security Operations Center.
  • Evaluate and architect existing safety and security solutions to ensure effectiveness, scalability, and alignment with organizational risk management and compliance requirements.
  • Assure compliance and assist with development of team standards, technical baselines, and service delivery procedures for supported systems.
  • Assure compliance with applicable security protocols and access governance for safety and security systems, including role-based permissions and audit-ready records.
  • Supervise and mentor technicians; establish individual goals, conduct performance reviews, and provide coaching and professional development.
  • Serve as the leadership escalation point for complex troubleshooting involving integrations and multi-site issues; coordinate cross-team response and communications.
  • Coordinate all required maintenance activities, including preventative maintenance schedules, device health monitoring, patching/upgrades as authorized, and operational readiness testing.
  • Coordinate and oversee vendor and contractor work; validate scope, testing, and acceptance to ensure systems are returned to full operational status.
  • Use change management procedures, operating controls, and reports to assure configurations are documented and impacts to other systems are considered.
  • Provide research and data analysis to assist decision making, including preparing and presenting statistical reports and KPIs for system reliability and support performance.
  • Assist with property and inventory control for the department, including parts/supplies planning and verification of receipts/services.
  • Oversee the development of technical assistance guides, job aids, and training materials for staff and school-based users; ensure consistent customer service and communication.
  • In coordination with the Safety & Security and the Facilities Maintenance Departments, provide engineering support to schools and district departments in the planning and implementation of projects involving safety and security technology systems.
  • Support and oversee safe operational practices, including training and monitoring of personnel and vendor activities on district property.
  • Participate as a member of the leadership team for Information Technology Services and collaborate with Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Safety & Security, and Operations teams.
  • Serve as the ITS Liaison to the Safety & Security Department and Volusia Sheriff’s Office on technical matters.
  • Keep current with hardware and software technology through education courses and self-study and maintain updated knowledge of district goals, vision, ethics, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • May require being on-call, working weekends/holidays, overtime hours or during emergency closures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the ITS Director of Infrastructure or CTO.
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (information systems, computer science, engineering, electronics, or related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience plus specialized training or certifications.
