Manager, Purchasing (Lab)
Location:
Deland, FL (Hybrid – 2 days onsite, 3 days remote)
Schedule:
Monday–Friday
The Manager, Purchasing (Lab) oversees daily operations of purchasing and supply chain functions. This role leads procurement activities, inventory control, vendor relationships, and budget management to support efficient laboratory operations. The manager ensures compliance with quality, legal, and regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily operations of purchasing and supply departments.
- Lead procurement and inventory control to support organizational goals.
- Oversee order processing, demand forecasting, and inventory optimization.
- Maintain accurate procurement files, vendor rating systems, and MSDS/SDS records.
- Negotiate contracts for materials, services, and equipment based on cost objectives.
- Develop and manage RFQ/RFP processes for supplier bidding.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships; monitor vendor performance and compliance.
- Resolve vendor or supplier grievances and claims.
- Evaluate expiring products and coordinate surplus material disposal according to policy.
- Prepare data analyses, forecasts, and reports to identify opportunities and solutions.
- Administer, review, and approve online purchase requisitions.
- Prepare and present key performance metrics, vendor updates, and program results.
- Manage departmental budgets and ensure cost-effective procurement practices.
- Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Support employee training and professional development goals.
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations, safety laws, and employment policies.
- Maintain communication with the Director of Materials Management and Senior Leadership.
- Proactively address supply chain issues and develop continuity plans.
- Promote a positive team culture aligned with company values.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing or contracting required.
- Experience in a clinical laboratory or healthcare environment preferred.
- Proven experience with procurement practices and MRP functions.
- Experience developing and managing departmental budgets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL, Crystal Reports, and WMS (Warehouse Management System) preferred.
- Procurement and inventory management.
- Budget management and financial analysis.
- Vendor relationship management.
- Contract negotiation and compliance coordination.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities.
- Target Bonus: $10,500.
- Relocation available nationwide.
