Utility Machine Operator (1st and 2nd shift)

Job Description

Possess the ability to maintain safe and efficient operations of all filler lines, casers, boxers, tray packer, and bundlers and work effectively in each area as business needs dictate.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Set up and operate equipment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedure and safe operating guidelines.
  • Assure proper raw materials are available to run production in accordance with production schedule.
  • Maintain a continuous supply of necessary raw and/or packaging materials to run production and properly utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to reflect material usage.
  • Monitor materials and production to ensure quality and compliance with product specifications.
  • Perform all necessary quality checks and testing as determined by the Quality Department or management.
  • Monitor job tasks to ensure food safety and quality and promptly report any concerns or issues to supervisor and/or Quality Assurance Department.
  • Complete associated production paperwork in a neat, timely, and accurate manner.
  • Document any downtime affiliated with equipment or personnel deficiencies.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Write and speak clearly and informatively and read and interpret written information.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and complete work in a timely manner.
  • Deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events and react well under pressure.
  • Follow policies and procedures and use equipment and materials properly.
  • Observe safety and security procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Strive to continuously build knowledge and skills.
  • Be consistently at work and on time and commit to long hours when necessary to reach goals.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills

Ability to competently and accurately operate a handheld Warehouse Management System scanning device.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must possess (or attain within seven (7) working days of initial hire or placement in this position) and maintain a current and valid forklift and pallet jack operator's license.

Physical Demands

Requires regular sitting; using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; talking or hearing. Occasionally required to stand and walk. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. Noise level usually moderate, but may be required to enter production areas where noise is loud and hearing protection is required.
