Job SummaryThe foreman supervises and works with a small group of employees engaged in semiskilled or unskilled manual labor. This employee also completes work assignments in accordance with established procedures and exercises judgment in modifying work plans to meet unexpected situations. The foreman also receives instructions and general supervision from a supervisor or higher level of supervision. Work is reviewed by reports and frequent site visits.
Duties & Responsibilities- Plans, assigns, supervises, and works with a crew engaged in activities such as installing or replacing water meters, mowing, painting, etc.
- Landscaping, tree trimming, planting, general duties as assigned.
- Assigns personnel to work tasks and assists them with their job.
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining supplies and equipment.
- Maintains yards, buildings, water well houses, lift stations, vehicles, water pumps, streets and sidewalks, athletic fields, playgrounds, roadways, fences, gates, lighting, and runway.
- Assigns work and performs evaluations of workers.
- May have to operate heavy equipment such as loaders, backhoe, vac equipment.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED is required. Significant experience in tree trimming is required. An equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be considered for minimum requirements, except for licensure/certification requirements.
- Licenses and Special Requirements: Possess and maintain a valid CDL class “B” or higher issued by the State of Florida with an acceptable driving record is required.

Skills:
Significant experience in horticulture is preferred. Some experience in public works, public utilities, or construction trades is preferred. Some experience as a lead worker or the equivalent of a Labor III level is preferred. - Language
Skills:
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with government officials, employees and the general public. Ability to develop and maintain good personal relationships with other employees and the public. - Reasoning Ability: Ability to follow and apply common sense understanding to carry out complex instructions furnished in written and oral form. Ability to read and comprehend safety manuals, work orders, operation guides, legal documents, instructions, letters, memos, journals, and maps.

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to keep records and prepare simple reports. Ability to teach and properly use various hand and power tools, equipment and vehicles related to the job. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and fractions.
Employee may work inside an office environment, or outside in various weather conditions, with radiant energy, grease or oils, solvents, or chemicals. Employees may have to work in dusty conditions, poor lighting, noisy conditions, and darkness or on uneven surfaces. Some job tasks may require employee to bend, stoop, drive, kneel, operate equipment, crawl, push or lift or carry 75 pounds or less.
