JOB SUMMARY
Performs semi‑skilled work in the construction, maintenance, repair and assists in the operation of a water treatment plant. The employee will be required to handle hazardous chemicals and may be in charge of ground maintenance, janitorial, and compound security. The employee reports to the Water/Wastewater Superintendent.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Possesses a valid Florida Driver’s License.
- Maintain irrigation systems.
- Maintains daily logs and records.
- Checks all equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance.
- Performs minor laboratory work.
- May operate equipment on occasion, such as tractor, trucks, pumps, and machinery.
- Answers telephone calls and dispatches emergency crew.
- Monitors and operates computers for alarms and proper operation of wells, water, and wastewater plants.
- Able to perform shift work as assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCEGraduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma. The individual must be in good physical condition and have the ability to accept and understand directions. Within one year must be CPR / AED qualified and after probation available for on‑call work as required.
REASONING ABILITYThe applicant must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. The applicant must also be able to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations when immediate guidance from the supervisor may not be available.
OTHERSKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of use of simple hand and power tools.
- Ability to learn streets and facility locations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by the work.
- Ability to fill out reports and work orders with good penmanship.
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with the public.
- Ability to read and write.
- Ability to work independently in a diligent manner.
This job requires walking, standing, pushing, bending, stooping, equipment operation and driving. The employee will work outside in various weather conditions. Working in or with moving vehicles and/or equipment may be required as well as working from heights, in dusty conditions, with hands, feet, and/or legs in wastewater and may handle chemicals.
