Job Description:
Roto-Rooter is seeking an experienced Lead Excavation Operator with SEPTIC Experience to join our team. This position requires a skilled operator who can not only handle heavy machinery but also manage and supervise an excavation crew. You will be responsible for overseeing excavation projects, ensuring safety, and maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- Operate heavy machinery, including backhoes, excavators, and trenchers, to perform residential and commercial excavation services
- Lead and supervise excavation crew members, providing guidance, training, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols
- Coordinate daily jobsite activities, including setting up and maintaining work areas, traffic control, and utility location
- Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and utility layouts to plan and execute excavations accurately
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure the timely completion of projects
- Conduct inspections to assess job progress, address issues, and ensure quality work
- Maintain equipment, reporting any issues or maintenance needs
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating with customers on job progress and managing any concerns
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating heavy machinery in an excavation or construction setting
- Thorough understanding of excavation safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and utility location procedures
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Experience with septic systems is a must
