We are looking to add a Quality Engineer to our team that will drive us to growth by providing as a subject matter expert along by leveraging advanced metrology tools to solve complex measurement challenges. This position will play a key role by equipping engineers and designers with investigating innovative measurement techniques to support our manufacturing design and quality standards.
Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:- Understand the various metrology instruments in our lab and their capabilities and shortcomings to create measurement plans and processes to ensure quality data collection.
- Work with manufacturing engineers to understand their needs and translate that to a dimensional measurement or methodology to aid decision making.
- Coordinate and maintain our metrology lab and equipment to ensure accurate and precise data collection, including scheduling maintenance and calibrations.
- Identify current trends in metrology and how the landscape is changing to make recommendations for our lab.
- You will serve as a measurement subject matter expert to consult and teach others about measurement methods and solutions.
- Collaborate with other engineers on New Product Introduction Process (NPI)
- Ensure/Provide quality related documents to the manufacturing floor, including control plans, control cards, visual aids and work instructions as part of NPI.
- Prepare and submit Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages ensuring all elements are met per customer requirements.
- Collect and analyze statistical process control (SPC) data to optimize manufacturing processes including gage repeatability and reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies.
- Create/modify programs for automated inspection equipment such as CMMs, vision systems and optical comparators.
- Comply with policies and procedures pertaining to facility or divisional adopted standards such as ISO 13485 & AS9100.
- Ensures Housekeeping and Health & Safety Standards are maintained.
- Comply with all safety regulations.
- MUST BE PROFICIENT with CALYPSO software and operation of Zeiss CMM
- Knowledge of print reading and interpreting ASME Y14.5-2009 drawings, including GD&T;
Knowledge of inspection methods, measuring equipment, i.e., CMM’s, Vision systems, validation protocols, etc. - Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO
13485 Requirements - Able to identify quality issues and drive corrective actions to resolve them.
- Able to collaborate with other organizational staff to implement root cause analysis.
- Communication and project management skills; effective business correspondence and reporting.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and business operating systems.
- Working knowledge of sub-contract process is required (plating, grinding, heat treating, passivation, etc.).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Highly organized with strong documentation skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience:
- 2 or 4-year College or University Degree in Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering or related field preferred along with 3-5 years of quality experience.
- AND 2+ years related technical metrology experience.
- 3-5 years’ manufacturing experience with Aerospace, Medical or Defense is preferred.
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
