Summary Statement

This position will operate multiple styles of boats transporting staff, supplies and equipment across the Delaware River. Duties will include the operation of the boat, safely docking and securely fastening the boat on a regular basis in a variety of weather and marine conditions. Additional duties may include assisting with maintenance and mechanical work in regards to boats, vehicles, surfaces, and buildings.

Functions
  • Operate motorboats to transport people and equipment on the Delaware River & Bay area.
  • Change oil and check fluids on motorboat.
  • Clean and fuel motorboat regularly.
  • Carry passengers and freight between docks.
  • Maintain equipment such as range markers, fire extinguishers, boat fenders, lines, pumps, and fittings.
  • Use equipment to take depth soundings.
  • Report any observed navigational hazards to authorities.
  • Load and unload boats.
  • Use navigational aids to maintain desired course.
  • Guide boats using engine throttles and steering mechanisms.
  • Secure boats to dock.
  • Find shelter for boat during rough weather.
  • Provide general customer service and park information to visitors.
  • Must be dependable and have good communication skills.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and have fun.
  • Perform other related work as required.
Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possession of a state‑issued boater education card or NASBLA‑approved boating safety course certificate.
  • Experience operating a boat.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's Licence (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
Additional Posting Information

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non‑pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
