The Basics:

Location:

Central Ohio (Toledo) or Delaware City, DE (On‑site)

Compensation: $28.00-$35.00 per hour

Days/

Hours:

Full‑time (Average: 45 hours per week); schedule may vary based on operational needs

Travel Expectation: 30-40% as needed between Central Ohio, Kansas and Delaware markets

What you’ll be doing :
  • Travel between sites in Ohio and Delaware to inspect, maintain, and repair locomotives
  • Perform routine inspections such as 92‑day and 184‑day checks
  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, and air brake systems
  • Complete daily servicing and respond to breakdowns to keep operations running
  • Perform testing on brakes, batteries, and electrical systems
  • Track oil samples to help find engine problems early
  • Read and use schematics, manuals, and parts catalogs to diagnose issues
  • Order parts and manage inventory needed for scheduled and unscheduled repairs
  • Work with site teams to plan maintenance and reduce downtime
  • Use welding and cutting tools when needed for repairs
  • Record inspections, repairs, and work orders in company systems
  • Support safe work practices and follow all railroad safety rules
Requirements to be successful in this position:
  • Miniumum 3-5 Years Experience maintaining and repairing locomotives (EMD experience preferred)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read technical manuals and electrical schematics
  • Able to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use maintenance tracking systems
  • Strong focus on safety and following procedures
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Willing and able to travel regularly between job sites
  • Ability to meet various pre‑employment requirements which may include but not limited to:
    • Criminal background check
    • Drug and alcohol screening
    • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review; valid Driver's license required
    • Fitness‑for‑duty assessment to ensure that candidates can safely perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
    • Ability to receive and maintain site access credentials or badges per site‑requirements
Here are some of the physical requirements for this role:
  • Stand, walk, and work for long periods of time
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Climb ladders and work on uneven or elevated surfaces
  • Work safely around heavy equipment and in industrial environments
