Our Nursing department located in Newark, Delaware, is seeking a full‑time Administrative Assistant II to provide organized clerical support within the Department of Nursing. The role includes an expanded set of responsibilities as directed by the Vice‑President of Patient Care Services. The ideal candidate is well‑organized, detail‑oriented, and able to multitask, completing tasks within prescribed timelines while demonstrating strong computer, verbal, and written communication skills.
Responsibilities- Performs clerical duties in a nursing‑oriented secretarial capacity.
- Coordinates office activities and communicates messages as needed.
- Demonstrates sound knowledge of departmental and hospital guidelines and policies.
- Coordinates communication between all levels of the healthcare team using written and verbal skills.
- Operates departmental computer systems and equipment accurately and safely.
- Maintains a positive demeanor of helpfulness, courtesy, and cooperation toward employees, physicians, and other hospital personnel.
- Protects confidential employee or patient information at all times.
- Attends staff meetings and mandatory in‑services.
- Performs all assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.
- Reports unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations to supervisor in a timely manner.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- High School Diploma.
- Four years’ experience providing administrative support to an administrator or manager.
- Knowledge of appropriate departmental and hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of clerical functions specific to the department.
- Ability to prioritize workload independently, working within established procedures or protocols.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in all job‑related activities.
- Ability to collaborate constructively with all members of the healthcare team.
- Ability to prioritize crisis calls and notify the appropriate manager immediately.
- Ability to maintain patient and employee confidentiality.
- Ability to locate, use, and maintain appropriate reference manuals.
- Ability to operate departmental computer system and other equipment accurately and safely.
- Ability to perform all appropriate psychomotor skills.
- Awareness and application of safety policies identified within the MCD.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Typing accuracy of at least 60 words per minute.
Office Hours: Day Shift
Hourly Pay Range: $22.29 – $33.44
