The mission of the Center for the Creative Arts is to transform, inspire, and enrich the lives of people of all ages and abilities through the arts.

Background

The Center for the Creative Arts is a member-driven non-profit community arts organization located in beautiful New Castle County, Yorklyn, DE, and is housed in a former school. For over 45 years, CCArts has engaged the community and offered visual and performing arts programs including classes, camps, and private instruction to children and adults of all ages. We offer classes and camps in painting, jewelry making, ceramics, glass making, theatre, music, dance and much more.

Our space also hosts rentals for outside arts organizations, events and parties. We are a vital part of the Yorklyn community and frequently host and participate in festivals and events. Our programming extends into the community where we partner with several educational and community organizations to ensure that everyone has access to the arts.

Teaching Artist:
Glass Arts

CCArts is seeking to add to our teaching artist team. A successful glass arts teaching artist will be a collaborative self-starter with great communication and classroom management skills and who has a passion for sharing their knowledge of the arts with students of all ability levels.

Skills and Background for Success

Is this you?

  • You have a BA/BS/BFA in either art, art education or prior related experience teaching glass arts such as stained glass, glass fusion and mosaics.
  • Looking for part-time, contract employment.
  • You are punctual, dependable, and flexible.
  • You have working knowledge of arts education, specifically in the medium of glass (stained, fused, and/or mosaics) and a passion for teaching.
  • You have excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • You have cultural competency skills and passion for working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • You are highly proficient in your artistic medium(s), their processes and equipment and possess the enthusiasm and willingness to share your knowledge with students.
  • We are particularly interested in hearing from artists/educators with experience teaching glass fusion, stained glass, fiber arts and mosaics to students in 6th-9th grades.
Responsibilities
  • Work with a maximum of 8-12 students at a time in a weekly class or workshop setting.
  • Develop creative projects that utilize important skills within your medium.
  • Foster caring and trusting relationships with students providing welcoming and non-discriminatory treatment of all students of all abilities regardless of race, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation.
  • Manage classroom decorum and maintain health, safety and housekeeping in the workspace.
  • Model through their behavior CCArts Core Values of acceptance, creative expression and collective success.

Schedule and Compensation

Base pay rate is $32 per hour with a $4/hr pay increase if class or workshop fills to capacity. Class/Workshop schedule is flexible and determined by the Program Manager and the Instructor at time of hire.
