The Principal of Milford Central Academy serves as the primary instructional and cultural leader for a dynamic middle school community, dedicated to navigating the unique academic and social‑emotional transitions of 7th and 8th‑grade students. In this role, the Principal is responsible for establishing a visionary learning environment that prioritizes the developmental needs of the pre‑adolescent learner through the implementation of a rigorous, state‑aligned curriculum and a Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
The successful candidate will drive school improvement by providing high‑quality coaching to staff, fostering an inclusive climate, and maintaining high levels of visibility within both the school and the broader Milford community. Beyond instructional oversight, the Principal ensures operational excellence by managing fiscal resources, overseeing the master schedule, and facilitating clear, transparent communication between families, staff, and district leadership to ensure every student is prepared for success at Milford Senior High School.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in school administration.
- A proven record of increasing student achievement and a deep understanding of evidence‑based pedagogical practices.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets to drive school improvement and interpret results for various stakeholders.
- Advanced understanding of State and Federal laws governing public education.
- Expert‑level proficiency in conflict resolution, behavior management, and professional communication.
- Leads the development, monitoring, and evaluation of all instructional programs to ensure academic rigor and alignment with state standards.
- Establishes a shared vision for teaching and learning that is embraced by staff, families, and the community to promote student achievement and success.
- Supervises the school's teaching and learning process, providing regular feedback and coaching to staff to improve classroom delivery and engagement.
- Possesses a keen awareness of the diverse instructional and support needs of all students and prepares staff to meet those unique developmental needs.
- Directs the implementation of the district-approved curriculum to ensure instructional consistency and academic rigor across all departments, including Special Education, CTE, and the Performing Arts.
- Leads the School Leadership Team in making collaborative recommendations concerning the school's administration, instruction, and major change efforts.
- Demonstrates cultural competence and a commitment to equity by ensuring all students have equitable access to school activities and opportunities.
- Engages in the promotion of Restorative Practices throughout the school and works to support staff and student understanding and use of these practices.
- Provides leadership for the continuous improvement of school culture, ensuring a safe, orderly, and respectful educational environment.
- Directs the recruitment, screening, hiring, and orientation of high‑quality staff members who are committed to the mission of the Milford School District.
- Supervises the evaluation of all professional, paraprofessional, and support personnel assigned to the building based on documented evidence using state and district approved systems.
- Provides for the ongoing professional growth of staff through targeted learning communities and individualized development plans focused on research‑based practices.
- Maintains an unwavering focus on key educational practices, academic performance data, and other indicators associated with student outcomes.
- Oversees the master building schedule and student class assignments to maximize instructional time and operational efficiency.
- Enforces high standards of student conduct and discipline, ensuring all actions respect due process and align with restorative goals.
