Appoquinimink School District offers a Spanish Immersion program and a Chinese Immersion program for kindergarten through 8th grade. Under the direction of the Building Principal, the Substitute provides appropriate learning experiences for students and creates an atmosphere conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development. The Substitute supervises students in a variety of school settings, monitors the appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.

Rate of Pay- High School Diploma/GED/Associate Degree – Class C – $15.06 per hour
- Bachelor's Degree or higher – Class B – $19.06 per hour
- A college student with a Major in Education that will qualify for a Teaching License with 60+ credits – Class B – $19.06 per hour
- Certified Teacher – Class A – $23.86 per hour
- Specialized paraprofessional (RISE, Foundations, Skill Builders, and Change Makers) – $19.06 per hour
- Other paraprofessionals – $15.06 per hour
Substitutes are Casual Seasonal Employees and are not eligible for Benefits.
Physical RequirementsThis position may require frequent bending, walking, running, and lifting of objects/equipment up to 50 pounds. Additional demands for paraprofessional positions may require moving wheelchairs, assisting with toileting, feeding and other daily living activities, assist with self-care plans such as toileting, feeding, personal hygiene, dressing and other daily living activities; physically assist students to engage in activities such as walking or eating, able to kneel and work on the floor with students, able to walk for long periods;
assistance with physically aggressive behaviors.
The work is generally performed in a school environment. Work may require the ability to move around the school and classroom.
Pre-Employment Requirements- All persons employed by the Appoquinimink School District are required to submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test.
- Anyone offered employment is required to provide the following: proper identification (Social Security Card and Driver's License), documentation of eligibility for employment in the U.S.A., completion of I-9 form, and completion of paperwork for the Delaware Child Protection Registry.
