Qualifications:
- Certification required:
Teacher of Secondary English Language Arts or Mathematics (Grades 9-12; Valid in Grades 6-8 in a middle level school) - Dual Certification in Special Education is desirable
- Minimum 5 years of classroom teaching experience
- Satisfactory Child Protection Registry Mantoux skin test/PPD documentation
- Cooperative attitude
- Excellent work ethic and ability to work collaboratively
- Experience in administering, analyzing and interpreting data
- Thorough knowledge of tiered systems of intervention
- Excellent organizational and management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, interpersonal and collaboration skills

Job Goal:
To provide services to administrators, counselors, teachers, parents, and students in the area of basic, developmental, and advanced academic skills including informal and/or standardized measures to diagnose the strengths and needs of individuals and/or groups. The Interventionist will also provide support for tiered levels of interventions to targeted students.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Plan and provide services in the areas of reading and/or math to identified students.
- Provide targeted, research-based intervention instruction in reading, mathematics, and/or other identified academic areas to students requiring additional support.
- Develop and implement effective research-based intervention strategies to meet the needs of all students.
- Interpret assessment scores and plans appropriate programs.
- Use assessment data, progress-monitoring tools, and state accountability measures to identify student learning needs and develop intervention plans.
- Deliver small-group and individualized instruction designed to accelerate student growth and close achievement gaps.
- Record and analyze student progress using qualitative and quantitative data.
- Help to develop ongoing assessment measures and interpret standardized test scores in relation to school objectives.
- Research and identify appropriate curriculum-based measurement tools to provide frequent monitoring of student progress.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Serve as a resource to teachers in identifying student needs, adapting instructional techniques and selecting appropriate materials.
- Work with teachers to plan, demonstrate, and team teach using effective research-based teaching strategies.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention services with core curriculum, instructional standards, and classroom expectations.
- Implement evidence-based instructional practices and interventions that promote measurable academic growth.
- Participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and other student support team meetings.
- Maintain accurate records of student participation, progress-monitoring data, intervention outcomes, and required reports.
- Collaborate with school counselors, administrators, special education staff, and families to support student achievement goals.
- Support the implementation of school improvement initiatives focused on increasing student achievement and state assessment performance.
- Utilize educational technology and intervention programs to personalize instruction and track student growth.
- Communicate student progress and intervention outcomes to teachers, administrators, students, and families.
- Assist with the administration and analysis of benchmark, diagnostic, and state assessments as assigned.
- Support the engagement of families and community in academic based activities.
- Participates in professional learning, training, workshops, and conferences as required.
- Adheres to all Delmar School District policies, maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
The teacher must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is required to fluently speak and understand English. While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers, and reach with hands and arms. While performing the duties of this job, expect occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
Reports to work on time every workday, except as afforded by existing law. Perform other duties related to student academic achievement and school improvement as assigned by the building administrator.
