Long Neck Elementary is seeking an innovative and highly‑motivated educator to teach STEAM/technology classes for K‑5th grade. Qualified candidates should have a passion for project‑based learning and integration of curriculum into STEAM‑based concepts.
Minimum Qualifications- Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification for Elementary Teacher & Special Education (required). Technology Education certification preferred.
- Exhibits knowledge of Delaware's core content area standards, especially in science, technology, engineering, arts and/or mathematics.
- Experience teaching elementary‑aged students, particularly in the areas of technology and STEAM, preferred.
- Clean Criminal Background Check, TB Test, and Child Protection Registry Clearance must be completed prior to start of employment.
- Integrate project‑based learning into classes in grades K‑5.
- Create, plan and prepare lessons for students in grades K‑5 covering curriculum pertaining to technology and STEAM.
- Guide students to create, design and test their projects.
- Provide effective instruction of students in order to support independent and creative learners.
- Motivate students to work in a project‑based format to attain their potential as a learner.
- Teach assigned classes using the educational philosophy and policies adopted by the Board of Education.
- Utilize State and District curriculum guidelines in carrying out teaching assignments.
- Use available resources, plans and implement a program of study that meets students' needs, interests, and abilities.
- Provide standards‑based, content aligned learning framework that establishes clear goals and objectives for all lessons and assignments.
- Interpret and use data from a variety of educational sources for the improvement of instruction.
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress when necessary.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Recognize the importance of parent/guardian and teacher cooperation and confer with parents as appropriate.
- Collaborate with the student support team to support students' academic, behavioral and mental health needs.
- Maintain a professional relationship, working cooperatively with all school personnel.
- Meet responsibilities as per contractual agreement and State law.
- Participate actively in professional growth activities, collaborative groups and Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
- Encourage students to behave in accordance with classroom and school rules.
- Perform other duties as requested by administration to meet the needs of the students.
