Summary of Position:
The Floater Teacher supports classrooms across The Academy by providing flexible coverage and helping maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children from infants through Pre-K. This role works alongside Lead and Assistant Teachers to provide classroom coverage during breaks, transitions, absences, and other staffing needs while helping ensure consistent care and smooth daily operations.

- Active involvement and membership in a local Bible teaching, Gospel centered church that aligns with the mission and values of Biltmore Church.
- Must meet NC DCDEE Lead Teacher qualifications (or be willing to obtain)
- Previous experience working with children in a licensed childcare setting is preferred
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn about child development, positive guidance, developmentally appropriate practices, and childcare health and safety.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with children, families, coworkers, and Academy leadership.
- Dependable, organized, and able to lead with both structure and warmth
- Capable of maintaining active supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Provide classroom coverage across infant through Pre-K classrooms as assigned, including during teacher breaks, absences, transitions, and other staffing needs.
- Maintain appropriate supervision of children and follow all classroom, safety, licensing, and Academy procedures.
- Engage with children through age-appropriate play, learning activities, conversation, and positive interactions.
- Follow the established classroom schedule, routines, and activity plans provided by the Lead Teacher.
- Assist with daily classroom routines including meals and snacks, diapering/toileting, rest time, transitions, and other age-appropriate care needs.
- Support a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment by assisting with sanitizing, cleaning, organizing materials, and resetting classroom spaces.
- Build positive and respectful relationships with children, families, teachers, and members of the Academy team.
- Communicate effectively with Lead and Assistant Teachers to provide consistent care and support for children as you transition between classrooms.
- Adapt quickly to different classroom environments, age groups, schedules, and needs while maintaining a calm and positive presence.
- Provide additional classroom and Academy support as assigned to help meet daily operational and staffing needs.
Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds, including children and classroom equipment.
Ability to sit on the floor, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move actively throughout the day.
Ability to supervise children indoors and outdoors and respond quickly to their needs.
Ability to perform the essential responsibilities of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
