Position: Planner I - III, Electric Construction & Maintenance
Location: Penn Acres South

Position Summary

Responsible for planning work activities for internal crew resources for planned maintenance work activities that support the mechanical, electrical and controls components for assets in Electric Production Generating Facilities, the Chiller Generating Facility, Electric and Water Transmission and Distribution System and Facility Locations.

Planning activities include identification of costs, material, equipment and resources needed for each task, duration of work tasks, preparation of system and asset clearance requests and work task coordination with internal resources, other internal stakeholders, contractors, vendors, governmental agencies and customers.

Essential Functions
  • Apply industry standards and techniques; adapt procedures, tools and equipment to meet special needs.
  • Build out documents and reports requiring intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • Perform job‑site walk‑downs and reviews.
  • Create and secure necessary clearance submissions.
  • Follow BWL procedures, guidelines and safety manual; wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Attend safety and skills training as required.
  • Perform on‑call and emergent work as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of the Asset Management System and Work Management processes.
  • Maintain predictable, reliable attendance and follow other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Specifications
  • Required:

    Associate’s degree in Engineering, Construction or related field (or equivalent education and experience).
  • Required:

    Minimum one year of previous experience in planning, maintenance or utilities.
  • Required:

    Proven history of taking initiative, strong organization and planning skills, emphasis on work safety, strong customer focus and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Required:

    Ability to read prints, drawings and sketches; willingness to work extra hours when needed.
  • Required:

    Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Preferred
  • Utility industry experience.
  • Project or construction management experience.
  • Experience working collaboratively with diverse teams.
Planner I

Starting Salary Range: $61,800 – $84,100.

Essential Functions – Planner I

Basic understanding of one resource group that maintains assets; operates mainly under guidance of another planner; works towards independent abilities; works on small or low‑complexity projects; prepares portions of project documents; assists with schedule and budget requirements; creates standard job packages; learns asset operations.

Planner II

Starting Salary Range: $76,200 – $91,500.

Essential Functions – Planner II

Adapts procedures and tools for special needs; reads basic sketches, drawings, schematics; performs job‑site reviews; works on small to mid‑size projects; builds work and project documents; provides backup support for up to two resource areas; operates independently for planning and scheduling; reads intermediate sketches; uses planning technologies including MS Project, Excel, Access, SAP; creates and secures mid‑level clearance submissions.

Planner III

Starting Salary Range: $84,700 – $102,400.

Essential Functions – Planner III

Same core responsibilities as planners II plus: builds and revises procedures and work instructions; provides training and quality checks for Planner I & II; demonstrates intermediate to advanced knowledge of electric power infrastructure and water distribution systems; fosters collaborative partnerships; demonstrates leadership and analytical capabilities; supports high‑complexity projects; generates innovative solutions to complex problems.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for the majority of the day.
  • Ability to move within an office environment and use a computer for a large portion of the day.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and reach items both below knee level and above head.
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain, walk on concrete, use ladders, platforms and personal lifts for inspections.
  • Good vision to distinguish colors, gauges and charts.
  • Ability to respond to emergency conditions via phone or radio.
