Staff Engineer, Environmental Compliance

Staff Engineer – Wilmington, DE

Hourly range: $29 to $34 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills and geographic location. The Staff Engineer works in our Wilmington, DE office and is responsible for field work, permit preparation, and client relationship building.

• Work independently and collaboratively with peers, seniors, and clients to build and strengthen relationships.
• Attend team and client meetings, actively contributing ideas.
• Conduct field work at client sites to collect data, including soil, groundwater, soil vapor, surface water, and other media sampling; maintain monitoring equipment.
• Assist with research and data collection as requested by project managers.
• Prepare environmental guidance documents, permit applications, compliance plans, and other resources for clients.
• Stay current on regulatory standards in environmental technical areas of responsibility.
• Maintain confidentiality of Onterris and client information.
• Follow all company safety rules and OSHA regulations, completing required safety training programs.
• Participate in continuous improvement programs and support team efforts.
• Keep up-to-date with industry trends through formal training, professional publications, and workshops.
• Engage in out‑of‑state field projects, including occasional overnight travel.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field from an accredited four‑year college or university.
• 0–2 years of environmental consulting and/or engineering experience; experience with industrial, municipal, and federal clientele is a plus.
• Basic acquaintance with environmental regulations (RCRA, TSCA, EPCRA, CAA, CWA, OSHA, NPDES, DOT).
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform in‑field physical activities.
• Strong time‑management skills and ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to research permit information and apply it to projects.
• Ability to support human health risk assessments and review laboratory data packages.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Foxit or Adobe, and Google Earth; ability to learn proprietary analytical systems.
