Summary Statement

This position supports regulatory, preparedness, and community protection programs and assists regulated facilities in meeting applicable requirements. Responsibilities include conducting onsite inspections, evaluating Risk Management Plans, reviewing technical and compliance documentation, preparing inspection reports, tracking corrective actions, maintaining program databases, and supporting enforcement activities. While current responsibilities include work under the Accidental Release Prevention program, the position is designed to provide adaptable capacity for emerging initiatives and future program needs.

Responsibilities

Essential functions of this role include:

  • Draft, develop and modify engineering designs, plans, and specifications.
  • Review permit applications, blueprints, and/or designs prepared by others to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
  • Apply principles and theories of science and mathematics to research and develop solutions to technical problems.
  • Plan and conduct field studies, surveys, research and development projects, inspections, and/or investigations to collect data and ensure conformance to state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Test or evaluate materials, equipment, systems and facilities.
  • Plan and coordinate engineering projects.
  • Review, analyze and report on the status of projects and/or regulatory conformance.
  • Develop cost estimates for project time and materials.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to technical staff.
Qualifications

Education, training, and experience requirements for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (or an anticipated graduation date within 9 months) in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Or official notice of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).
