Job Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, State Government Affairs for the Maryland/Delaware District, this role is responsible for local government policy and advocacy matters in Delaware, including the development and implementation of city legislative strategies and monitoring ordinances.
Core Responsibilities- Assist in developing and implementing city government advocacy strategies, monitoring ordinances, and local government affairs activities.
- Build strategies and tactics to effectively advocate for company priorities across all levels of local government.
- Develop and maintain relationships with government representatives and regulators at the local level.
- Travel to attend meetings, hearings, or other events to represent the company.
- Monitor local legislative activity affecting Comcast NBCUniversal business interests.
- Work with HQ Shared Services Policy team to review ordinances and receive policy direction from subject matter experts.
- Execute advocacy strategies and tactics based on the company’s policy guidance.
- Facilitate state and local government-facing business initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support at all management levels to ensure consistent local government policy and enhance communication with local officials.
- Assist with franchising activity, including resolution of complex franchise renewals, transfers, and non-compliance issues.
- Develop relationships with coalition and industry trade associations on behalf of Comcast.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Familiarity with key areas of technology and/or telecommunications policy.
- Progressively responsible experience in government affairs, working with city councils, mayors, legislators, government agencies, political campaigns, or associations.
- Strong team player and willingness to assist the department in various tasks.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities with good organization skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and represent Comcast professionally.
- Strong presentation and communication skills; able to communicate at all organizational levels in written and oral form.
- Proven project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional time management, strong eye for detail, and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree. - Years of
Experience:
5+ years related experience. - Travel Required:
25‑30%.
