Competitive Compensation and Benefits PackageDagsboro Police Department provides a competitive compensation package that includes:
- Non-certified: $60,000 upon completing of training.
- Certified:
Salary dependent on qualifications and years of service (up to $71,614) - Take-Home Patrol Vehicle

- Leave Benefits:
Paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, and compensatory time. - Overtime Opportunities:
Various opportunities for special duty assignments with increased pay. - Shift
Schedule:
10-hour shifts. - Retirement Plan: 20-Year Pension and Retirement benefits via the State Municipal Police Pension.
- Education:
100% reimbursement for two Bachelor courses or one Masters course per semester at a Delaware college or university through Delaware Criminal Justice Council upon acceptance. - Uniforms, weapons, and all equipment provided
- Facial hair and tattoos permissible by policy
Prospective applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship: All candidates must be U.S. citizens.
- Character: Candidates must have strong work ethic, good judgement, and sound moral character.
- Age: Applicants must be 21 years old by the time they complete the academy.
- Driver’s License: Possession of a valid drivers license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
- Vision: Minimum uncorrected vision not greater then 20/200 in each eye and correctable with lenses Io 20/20 in each eye. Able to distinguish between the colors of red, green, and amber.
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Background Check: Candidates for this position will be subject to a physical fitness test, awritten examintion, a panel interview, a background investigation, a pre-employment physical, drug testing, and psychological testing.
