Occupational Therapist (Full-Time)
Becks Woods is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our outpatient program in Bear, Delaware.
Scope of PracticeProvides occupational therapy patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent/caregiver education, communication, and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate within the guidelines designated by the department and the Delaware Valley policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all ages: pediatrics, adolescents, and adults.
- Provides occupational therapy services to a variety of patient types with recognition of own limitations while seeking appropriate mentorship as needed.
- Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #7980.3.3, Joint Commission, and CARF standards.
- Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
- Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment, home/school modifications and transitional therapy program prior to discharge from therapy.
- Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.
- Completes all mandatory training; may include, but not limited to safety, infection control, corporate compliance, HIPAA, bioterrorism, CPR, and program specific respiratory training.
- Participates in triage and coverage planning as necessary to meet patient care and departmental needs.
- When required by assignment, participates in weekend/holiday inpatient coverage rotation, including checking the code blue cart per guideline #7980. GL.24.
- Works cooperatively on multidisciplinary, single discipline, program specific and specialty teams; assists in maintenance of department space and equipment.
- Independently seeks to expand clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice through literature reviews, in-services, courses, and mentorships; may provide input on new treatment intervention strategies to ensure evidence-based and current practices.
- Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy or its equivalent from an ACOTE-accredited university.
- Minimum of three (3) to six (6) months experience required; new graduates considered based on educational experiences.
- State of Delaware Occupational Therapist License required upon hire.
- Second license required for all clinical positions; must submit license or proof of application within 2 weeks of job acceptance; dual licensure (DE, PA, NJ, MD) maintained.
- Compact licensure acceptable for primary and secondary licensure when practitioner is eligible and maintains an active home-state license in a Compact state.
- PA clearances required if position will provide clinical care in PA locations.
- American Heart Association BLS certification required within 6 months of hire and must be maintained for duration of employment.
- Member of professional specialty organizations (AOTA, State Occupational Therapy Assoc.) preferred.
- Clinical affiliation and/or work experience in pediatrics preferred.
- Experience with physically and/or mentally challenged populations preferred.
