General SummaryUnder the direction of the Site Manager and Mammography Supervisor, demonstrates competency and actively functions in General Radiography procedures.
Responsibilities- Prepares procedure room and patient for all studies, disinfects equipment after each patient, and disposes of dirty linen after each patient. Monitors patient flow for efficient operations.
- Educates patient regarding ordered procedure and answers questions, obtains prior mammography images, history, and written consent, verifies patient information, checks for appropriate ICD‑10 codes, and uses safety screening/consent forms.
- Performs procedures according to established protocols, positions patients, selects appropriate equipment, monitors patients during procedures, notifies radiologist of reactions or problems, assists radiologists when necessary, and minimizes patient discomfort.
- Ensures quality images by reviewing films or sending images to the PACS System, maintaining imaging QA below 2% per month.
- Assumes responsibility for portions of the quality assurance program as directed by vendors, maintaining competence with HMR and PACS.
- Runs daily pending work reports to ensure exams are properly charged, tracks PACS and HMR errors, and reports on PI reports, maintaining error rate below 2%.
- Maintains adequate supplies, stocks the room at the start of each shift and throughout the day, monitors par levels, and reports items below par.
- Performs other duties within the scope of job responsibilities.
- Education:
Certificate Program in Radiologic Technology. - Credentials:
Basic Life Support, Registered Technologist in Radiography, Mammography within 18 months of Medical Radiologic Technologist certification.
- Education:
Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology. - Credentials:
Registered Technologist, Mammography. - Experience:
Prior mammography experience.
