Position Overview
Amentum is seeking dynamic and strong leaders for employment as a SURTASS Technical Advisor for the SURTASS program, based out of Virginia Beach, VA.
Responsibilities- Participate in planning, execution, and reporting of new and existing SURTASS equipment installations.
- Perform an independent, self‑directed role, leading a small team of technicians and technical repair activities.
- Serve as an onsite manager coordinating port services and other activities to support ship’s Mission Readiness Availability and Mission Readiness Reviews (MRR/MRA) between operational missions at sea.
- Review all incoming and outgoing communications.
- Resolve or request technical support for repairs to the program office.
- Operate the SURTASS Operations Center (SOC) daily, including array evolutions, message transmission, equipment preventive and corrective maintenance, and responding to program office inquiries.
- Interact directly with embarked entities in support of array evolutions, mission requirements, communications plans, port entry/departure, and security of all SURTASS controlled spaces.
- Ensure all rules and regulations are followed and report any violations.
- Train new personnel and provide ongoing training for experienced personnel.
- Act as the commanding officer of the onboard COMSEC account.
- Associate's degree in electronic technology or equivalent military class “C” electronics maintenance school.
- Five (5) years of practical hands‑on experience in operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of secure networks and communications systems, navigation systems, and sonar systems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as a task lead as required.
- TS/SCI clearance.
- Qualified in all SURTASS subordinate positions.
- Experience on U.S. Navy electronics equipment.
- 600 sea day on the SURTASS program.
- Worked in position under instruction for 2 missions.
- Background in EKMS/COMSEC.
$56,000 and up DOE (depending on experience, education, skills, etc.).
