Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and administer a state‑of‑the‑art safety and occupational health (SOH) program for CNSWG-2.
- Keep abreast of current and proposed technical and managerial developments in the SOH field, and determine, formulate, and institute appropriate changes in the safety program to assure it embodies the latest practice.
- Develop SOH standards for operations where existing standards are inadequate or where standards do not exist.
- Maintain a SOH library; perform periodic inspections and surveys of command programs, work spaces, operations, and equipment for compliance with SOH standards.
- Be exposed to chemicals, explosives, asbestos and lead.
- Constantly evaluate assigned functional area operations for effectiveness, quality of performance, and progress in meeting objectives.
- Analyze and evaluate high‑risk military operations such as the use of ammunition and explosives during live‑fire training exercises.
- Review all requests for deviation from established explosive safety standards to ensure compliance with existing safety directives.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the Direct Deposit Pay program.
- Must pass the E‑Verify employment verification check.
- Retired military members appointed within 180 days after retirement are subject to restrictions.
- Male candidates born after 12‑31‑59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to duty; failure may result in withdrawal of offer or removal.
- Travel by aircraft in and out of CONUS is required (15%); occasional flight in military helicopters or transport aircraft.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS‑12 grade level, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must include managing Naval Special Warfare’s safety, occupational health, and explosive safety programs; developing and implementing policy for high‑risk training, conducting mishap investigations, and ensuring regulatory compliance to guarantee operational readiness and mission success for elite forces.
