Dance Instructor- Delaware YMCA

Young Mens Christian Association of Central Ohio

The YMCA is seeking a passionate, energetic, and dedicated Youth Dance Instructor to join our team. This role is focused on inspiring a love of dance in children by providing engaging instruction, promoting creativity and teamwork, and ensuring a safe, fun, and nurturing environment.

• Planning and leading age-appropriate dance classes for youth ages 4-12
• Teaching fundamental dance skills and techniques, demonstrating movements and routines
• Encouraging participant confidence, growth, and self-expression
• Maintaining accurate class records (attendance & progress reports)
• Keeping the field/gym area ready before and after program; organizing and putting away class equipment; reporting damaged equipment
• Following YMCA policies and procedures; responding to emergency situations
• Officiating sport/activity matches and games as scheduled; assisting in supervision of volunteers involved in sport or activity
• Answering questions from participants/parents to support them in achieving their goals related to youth development
• Building effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; encouraging parent involvement and identifying potential volunteers
• Conveying information on sports/activity programs and schedules, and as appropriate, referring participants and parents to other programs

• Solid foundation in dance
• Previous teaching or instructional experience
• Strong communication skills
• Genuine passion for working with children

Think, communicates and behaves as a cause‑driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job‑related functions. Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes/practices/games, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals. Answers questions from participants/parents to support them in achieving their goals related to youth development.
