Student Worker – Achievement Mentor

Number of Openings: 3

Purpose/Objective of the Role:

  • The Pathfinder Program is a supportive initiative designed to help students achieve their academic and personal goals.
  • This program offers comprehensive support through various wraparound services and dedicated mentorship.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • The Achievement Mentor plays a crucial role in the Pathfinder Program.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Monitor study hall participation
    • Keep track of scholars' attendance and engagement in study hall sessions
  • Weekly follow-ups with scholars
    • Conduct regular check-ins to determine:
      • How classes are going
      • Class attendance and any missed classes
      • Upcoming quizzes or tests
      • Need for additional support
      • Any good news or positive developments
  • Update notes in the spreadsheet
    • Record the days you connected with students
    • Include any useful information gathered during interactions
  • Follow up with Jason or Anja
    • Forward concerns about scholars
    • Report scholars who are not responding to communication attempts
  • Additional Tips for Success:
    • One-on-One meetings:
      Personalized sessions with mentors or advisors
    • Classroom follow-ups:
      Regular check-ins related to classroom performance and attendance
    • Study hall:
      Dedicated time and space for focused studying
    • Direct intervention:
      Targeted support for specific challenges or needs
