We are hiring for an Electrical Test Technician in the Columbus, Ohio area. This is a long‑term career opportunity for individuals with industry‑related experience. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of DELAWARE, OH.
Job DescriptionThe Test Technician performs functional and system‑level testing on uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, chargers, and inverter modules to ensure they meet all specified electrical and quality requirements. The role involves configuring and operating test equipment, collecting and analyzing test data, and supporting test engineers with witness tests and advanced instrumentation systems. The position offers significant hands‑on experience with high‑tech power electronics and a clear career path into test engineering within the data center and critical infrastructure industry.
Responsibilities- Perform functional testing of UPS, charger, and inverter modules to verify conformance with specified requirements and engineered standards.
- Conduct electrical and systems testing on UPS units, including both AC and DC power testing at 208V or higher.
- Conduct witness tests and assist test engineers in executing and documenting witness tests for customers or third parties.
- Design and develop instrumentation systems that incorporate uncertainty analysis to achieve highly accurate testing systems.
- Collect and record test data using electronic test equipment and instruments, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
- Perform physical inspection and functional inspection of electrical components prior to and during testing.
- Operate test bays, test stations, and associated equipment safely and efficiently during test procedures.
- Troubleshoot and repair faulty electrical components and systems identified during testing, using established diagnostic methods.
- Assess product performance against engineered standards, including UL, CSA, and IEEE requirements, and verify units meet agency approvals.
- Review order write‑ups and product documentation to understand test requirements and ensure correct configuration and operation.
- Configure and connect system equipment such as switch gear, SCCT cabinets, and power ties, and perform preliminary inspections and tests.
- Work closely with other engineering and production areas to ensure product quality, resolve issues, and support continuous improvement.
- Ensure proper use, care, and calibration awareness of test equipment and electronic instruments.
- Document test results, issues found, and corrective actions taken in a clear and organized manner.
- Follow all safety procedures and electrical safety practices while working with medium and high‑power equipment.
- Associate degree in electronics or higher, or equivalent of at least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Hands‑on experience with electrical troubleshooting on power electronic systems (must be actual work experience, not just from school).
The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $31.00/hr.
