Job Description
This organization is seeking its first dedicated Electrical Engineer to manage all electrical aspects of hoist and suspended access equipment. This hands-on, high-impact role focuses on electromechanical systems rather than power systems or software development. As the go-to technical resource, you will oversee electrical design, controls, safety, compliance, and product improvement throughout the entire product lifecycle. You will work independently within a small engineering team, seeing projects through from concept to production and field support.
Responsibilities
+ Lead the design, development, testing, and launch of electrical control systems for hoists and suspended access equipment.
+ Own electrical control systems including motors, brakes, safety devices, sensors, and control architecture.
+ Translate customer, regulatory, and internal requirements into UL-compliant, manufacturable electrical designs.
+ Design electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control panels, and interface documentation.
+ Specify and integrate motors, drives, brakes, sensors, limit switches, safety relays, and protective devices.
+ Perform electrical system analysis including power, thermal, fault, and safety evaluations.
+ Support new product introduction activities including design reviews, prototyping, testing, and launch readiness.
+ Improve existing products using customer feedback, field data, and warranty trends.
+ Drive reliability, safety, usability, and performance improvements across current product lines.
+ Identify cost reduction and margin improvement opportunities through component selection and design simplification.
+ Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, firmware, and external suppliers.
+ Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing, assembly, and field issues.
+ Ensure compliance with North American electrical, safety, and lifting codes and regulations.
+ Create and maintain engineering documentation including schematics, BOMs, specifications, test reports, and manuals.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
+ 5+ years of experience in electrical and embedded control system design and testing.
+
Experience with electromechanical systems such as hoists, lifts, cranes, or safety-critical machinery.
+ Demonstrated experience developing UL-certified electrical systems.
+ Strong understanding of motor control, power electronics, and safety-related control architectures.
+ Experience integrating electrical hardware with embedded firmware and mechanical systems.
+ Proficiency with electrical CAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical or similar.
+ Working knowledge of North American electrical codes, grounding, insulation, EMC, and fault protection.
+
Experience with functional safety, risk assessment, and FMEA.
+ Ability to work independently and own the electrical function within a small engineering team.
+ Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Work Environment
This privately held manufacturer, based in Delaware, Ohio, has been in operation for over 70 years, with more than 20 years locally. The company designs, builds, and assembles suspended access equipment used on high-rise buildings, such as swing stages, hoists, cables, and related access systems. The organization designs and builds complete systems in-house, sourcing select components globally and completing final assembly and customization internally.

This is a Permanent position based out of Delaware, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
