We are looking to employ a detail-oriented and experienced Master Production Scheduler to create, modify, and manage production schedules. The Master Production Scheduler ’s responsibilities include monitoring inventory levels, regularly providing production status updates to management, and facilitating the timely delivery of products to customers. You should also be able to closely monitor the production process to ensure that production orders are completed on time and within budget.
To be successful as an Master Production Scheduler, you should be knowledgeable of material requirements planning and able to manage production deadlines. Ultimately, an exceptional Inventory and Production Planner should demonstrate excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills to ensure that production operations run smoothly.
Primary Responsibilities for Master Production Scheduler:Production Planning
- Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, capacity, and material availability.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, procurement, and logistics to ensure timely production execution.
- Analyze production bottlenecks and propose corrective actions to improve throughput.
- Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and ensure alignment with production targets and takt time.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels for raw materials, components, and finished goods to prevent shortages and overstock.
- Execute inventory control processes, cycle counts, and reconciliation activities.
- Review supplier delivery performance and collaborate with procurement to resolve material issues.
- Track safety stock levels and adjust according to demand variability and lead-time changes.
- Evaluate customer demand forecasts and ensure alignment with production plans.
- Communicate production constraints or risks to internal teams and develop mitigation strategies.
- Support sales and operations planning (S&OP) processes with accurate data and analysis.
- Monitor KPIs including inventory turns, fulfillment rate, production adherence, and material variances.
- Prepare reports on forecast accuracy, inventory health, capacity utilization, and material shortages.
- Use ERP/MRP systems to track production status and inventory transactions (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc.).
- Identify opportunities to streamline planning, scheduling, and inventory processes.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives such as waste reduction, 5S, and continuous flow.
- Work cross-functionally to improve supplier performance, production efficiency, and overall supply chain reliability.

- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 2–5+ years of experience in production planning, inventory management, or supply chain, preferably in the automotive or manufacturing industry.
- Experience working with automotive OEM or Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Plex).
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Kanban, and just-in-time (JIT) principles.
- Advanced Excel skills; ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
