Job Overview:
The Child Nutrition Assistant Manager reports to the Child Nutrition Manager and assists in overseeing the daily operations of the school cafeteria, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and district guidelines. This role includes supervising staff, managing inventory, and supporting food production and service.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required. Serv Safe Food Safety Manager certification required within 6 months of hire. Basic math skills and knowledge of culinary conversions required. Successful completion of Child Nutrition Unit Classes 1-4 and other related classes within a reasonable timeframe. Experience in food service management, preferably in a school setting. Ability to utilize technology with efficiency.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to bend, squat, and reach frequently as part of daily tasks.
Performance Responsibilities:
Assist in directing and supervising cafeteria staff in daily food preparation, service, and cleaning. Support training, mentoring, and evaluation of team members. Ensure staff are cross-trained in all areas of cafeteria operations and rotate through different stations to maintain a well-rounded, flexible team. Prepare menu items on time according to pre-planned menus using standardized recipes. Assists in overseeing the use of kitchen equipment, ensuring equipment is properly used and maintained by staff.
Help monitor and maintain inventory levels, placing orders for food and supplies. Ensure proper receipt, storage, and rotation of food supplies. Assist in maintaining accurate production records and meal counts. Ensure food preparation and storage areas comply with health and safety standards. Assist with the operation of the POS system and its oversight. Communicate with the Child Nutrition Manager regarding inventory usage, production totals, and any operational concerns.
Assist the manager in implementing new procedures or changes. Implement HACCP procedures during food receiving, preparation, and storage. Actively engage in annual training and professional development. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment:
Full-time, ten-month employee Salary:
Salary schedule is based on experience and degree and can be found on the district website.
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated annually according to the Board's policy on professional personnel evaluation.
